Don’t know about your neck of the woods, but around here the weather is GORGEOUS, which of course means we want to sit outside with a nice cold one, and grill up some sausage.

What kind of summer drinks go well with sausage?  Here are some favorites from Isernio’s employees:

Frank and Margaret Isernio: Nothing goes better with grilled sausage on a hot day than cold beer or white wine.  We prefer Nobilo Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand. Frank’s preferred beer is Stella Artois.  As for cocktails before a meal, we like Campari & Soda with a wedge of fresh cut Orange squeezed in.

Mary Ann Peterson:  Wine spritzer, seltzer with a slice of lime, or a Blue Moon Belgian ale

Mike Durand:  Stella Artois (maybe he’s just copying Frank?)

Scott Mayhew:   If it’s hot out, I’m either having a Gatorade or a beer!

Tony Rodriguez:  Mike’s Hard Lemonade

Ingrid Harger:  A nice cold glass of Riesling – Chateau Ste Michelle is one of my favorites.

What’s YOUR favorite beverage to have on a hot summer day with some grilled sausage?

A huge congratulations to our friend Joe Fugere and Tutta Bella Pizzeria in Seattle for being chosen as the 2010 Independent Pizzeria of the Year by Pizza Today Magazine.  Each year, Pizza Today magazine chooses the best from among 30,000 independent pizzerias in the US.  This year, the winner was Tutta Bella!

Tutta Bella is the Northwest’s first certified Neapolitan pizzeria.  If you’ve never tried traditional Neapolitan pizza you are really in for a treat – baked in a super hot wood-fired oven, these pizzas have an incredibly soft, yet slightly crispy crust, and the freshest flavor you can get.   We highly recommend visiting one of Tutta Bella’s four Seattle-area locations if you get the chance (and, try one of their pizzas featuring Isernio’s Sausage, of course!)

Read the 11-page spread in Pizza Today here (starting on page 58), and also check out this video from last year’s Festa Italiana of Frank Isernio interviewing his long-time friend Joe Fugere about pizza, fresh ingredients and Italian traditions in Seattle.

Do you have a favorite pizza joint in your town?  Or a favorite pizza recipe to make at home? Tell us about it!
